Shot as she left the church in her wedding dress.

In St Michael's Church is the memorial to Mary Whiddon. Legend says she was shot dead leaving the church on her wedding day. Britain Express says brides still lay a flower on her tomb and that she is said to appear to brides marrying from the Three Crowns, the old Whiddon house. The story is said to have inspired the shooting in Lorna Doone.
