Invisible hairy hands seized the handlebars.

On the road near Postbridge, drivers in the 1920s were said to have been forced off by a pair of disembodied hairy hands gripping the wheel. The Skeptic traces the story to a Daily Mail piece on 14 October 1921. Wikipedia lists a fatal crash in June 1921 and a captain's report that August. The Skeptic says the road camber was later adjusted.
