A coach of bones, a black hound, and one blade of grass a night.

Lady Mary Howard of Fitzford, Tavistock, outlived several husbands. Legend made her a murderer, and as penance she rides each night in a coach made of bones, with a black hound, to Okehampton Castle, where the dog must pick a single blade of grass to take back. She must do it until the castle mound is bare. English Heritage cites a ballad and Baring-Gould.
