Before you go

Open countryside and roads; the heath is now mostly farmland and housing. Check before you go.

  • Dunsmore Heath
  • Near A426
  • The pin is approximate.

A cow the size of a double-decker bus.

The Dun Cow was a huge savage beast that roamed Dunsmore Heath near Dunchurch, and Guy of Warwick killed it. A great rib said to be from the cow was long shown at Warwick Castle. CONFLICT: Wikipedia says the 'rib' is a narwhal tusk, while Visit Warwickshire says it was almost certainly a whale bone.
