A dead earl at the King's bedside.

In June 1645 Charles I stayed at the Wheatsheaf Inn in Daventry while his army camped on Borough Hill. Local legend says the ghost of the executed Earl of Strafford appeared to him (twice, says Wikipedia) and warned him not to fight; days later he lost at Naseby. The Wheatsheaf is now a care home.
