Hoofbeats on a stormy night.
Once a year a horseman in Stuart costume is said to gallop to Wycoller Hall on a wild night, climb the stairs and enter a room, from which screams are heard. The tale says a Cunliffe squire killed his wife there. The ruined hall is linked with Ferndean Manor in Jane Eyre.
