The giants' gold is still in the hill. So are the things that guard it.

Trencrom Hill is a rocky hill fort near Lelant, looking south to St Michael's Mount and north over the Hayle estuary. Robert Hunt says the giants built a castle on its summit, whose four entrances can still be traced in the great piled stones. When the giants were perishing, they hid their gold and jewels deep in caves in the granite, under strong spells. The treasure is still there, he says, guarded by the Spriggans, small fierce spirits. A well on the west side of the ramparts is known as the Giant's Well. The hill now belongs to the National Trust.
