Good Friday at Malkin Tower.

In 1612 ten people from around Pendle Hill were convicted of witchcraft at the Lancaster assizes. The case centred on two families led by 'Old Demdike' and 'Old Chattox'. A Good Friday gathering at Malkin Tower, Demdike's home, was described as a witches' meeting. Archaeologists have since dug at Malkin Tower Farm near Blacko, where visitors tie trinkets to a hawthorn.
