Pinned to the hill with his own pitchfork.

On 14 February 1945 farm labourer Charles Walton was killed while hedging on the slopes of Meon Hill near Lower Quinton. BBC Coventry & Warwickshire says he was pinned down with his own pitchfork, with his billhook in his body, and that some villagers believed his country lore came from witchcraft. The case was never solved, and the Stratford Herald calls it the most notorious of the year's murders.
