Parish church; usually open in daytime. Check before you go.
A tomb that names its murderers.
Joan Flower and her daughters Margaret and Philippa, servants at Belvoir Castle, were accused of killing the Earl of Rutland's sons by witchcraft. Joan died at Ancaster after choking on bread; the daughters were hanged at Lincoln on 11 March 1619. Bottesford Living History says the Earl's tomb in St Mary's church records that the boys died 'by wicked practises and sorcerye'.
