Four knights, heads together, plotting against their king. The witch caught them mid-whisper.
A few hundred metres east of the King's Men, four tall stones lean together inside a railing, with a fallen capstone beside them. These were once the walls of a Neolithic burial chamber, older than the circle. In the Rollright legend they are the king's knights. They had hung back from the army, heads together, plotting treachery, when the witch turned them to stone along with the rest. Seen from the side, the stones still seem to huddle and whisper, as if they are still at it.
