Begun in 1965 by anglers at Ashton's Chequered Skipper pub when it was too wet to fish, the World Conker Championships now take place at Southwick. The 2026 event was held on 11 October with over 250 competitors; Frankie Hooper and Simon Griffiths were crowned Queen and King Conker.
