Born in a storm in a riverside cave, she laughed instead of crying, and the thunder stopped.

Mother Shipton's Cave lies beside the River Nidd at Knaresborough, next to a petrifying well whose mineral-rich water encrusts objects left in it. Wikipedia says the well has been run as a paid attraction since 1630, the oldest in England. Legend says the prophetess Ursula Southeil was born in the cave during a violent thunderstorm, and that she cackled instead of crying, after which the storm stopped. The BBC notes the earliest record of her is a pamphlet of 1641. It tells how she foretold that Cardinal Wolsey would never reach York; he was recalled to London and died on the journey.
