Before you go

Short walk from Shenton. Check before you go.

  • King Richard's Well
  • Near B585
  • The pin marks the spot.

One last drink before the charge.

Tradition says Richard III drank from this spring during the Battle of Bosworth. The IWM register says Dr Samuel Parr raised a stone cairn with a Latin inscription in 1813. The Battlefields Trust says a newer Richard III Society plaque questions the drinking story. The holy wells blog adds the cairn was repaired in 1964.
