Clack of the coconut nuts.

Every Easter Saturday the Britannia Coconut Dancers, with Stacksteads Band, dance a seven-mile boundary route from the Old Travellers Rest through Bacup. They wear black faces, kilts and wooden 'nuts' on hands and knees. The custom is said to come from Cornish miners. The blackened faces are controversial, and the team left the Morris federations in 2020.
