Chains and a stone coffin could not hold her.

William of Malmesbury tells of a woman of Berkeley who practised witchcraft. As she lay dying, she had her body sewn into a stag's hide and chained in a stone coffin in the church. Devils broke two chains over two nights; on the third a devil broke the last, dragged her out and rode off with her on his horse. NOT FOUND: a second independent account was not read.
