No water to christen a baby, so they gave up a ram.

Kingsteignton's Ram Fair is built on a legend: a drought left the village with too little water even to baptise a child, so a ram was sacrificed, and water sprang up. The ram is roasted at the fair. Wikipedia says it was once on Whit Tuesday, then Whit Monday, and is now on the late May bank holiday. The fair's site lists 25 May 2026 at Oakford Lawn.
