The pool calls out the name of the next to die.

Crazywell Pool is a lake on southern Dartmoor, thought bottomless. Wikipedia tells that bell ropes failed to reach the bottom and that it was found to be about 16ft deep (Plymouth Herald). At dusk the pool is said to call the name of the next parishioner to die. The Plymouth Herald links it with the Witch of Sheepstor, and the Torbay Weekly tells of Piers Gaveston consulting her.
