Godiva comes into town.

The Godiva Festival began in 1997 at War Memorial Park. BBC News reported on 6 February 2026 that the council had 'paused' it for 2026 because it was no longer financially viable. It was replaced by Godiva in the City, a free two-day event in early July 2026 on two stages, at Gosford Street and Millennium Place.
