The hero who gave it all up for a cave.

Guy of Warwick is the county's great legendary hero: he killed the Dun Cow of Dunsmore Heath and fought the giant Colbrond for King Athelstan. The tale says that after winning his love Felice he was struck with remorse and went to live as a hermit in a cave in the sandstone cliff above the Avon at Guy's Cliffe. Warwickshire Museum records the cave as a natural cave enlarged by people, reported as a possible early medieval hermitage.
