Ribbons round the pole.

Wellow keeps a permanent 17-metre maypole, painted red, white and blue, on its village green. On spring bank holiday Monday, children dance with ribbons and a May Queen is crowned. Rose Baugh was crowned in 2026. The custom is said to be centuries old.
