Twenty thousand geese.

Goose Fair is Nottingham's great October fair. It is usually traced to a 1284 charter of Edward I, but the city archaeologist says that link is not certain. Lore says up to 20,000 geese were walked in from the fens and Lincoln for Michaelmas. There were cheese riots in 1766. The 2025 fair ran for 10 days.
