The world's first garden gnomes.

Sir Charles Isham brought terracotta figures from Germany in 1847 and populated his Lamport rockery with them around 1874, the first garden gnomes in Britain. Lamport Hall says legend has it his daughters shot them with air rifles after his death; one survivor, Lampy, remains.
