Stand on Potter Heigham bridge at midnight on 31 May and listen for hooves, then a crash.
Lady Carew is said to have paid a witch for a love potion so that her daughter Evelyn could marry a wealthy young man. In return the witch asked for one wish, which she didn't name. The couple married in 1742. At midnight on the wedding night, a skeleton appeared and carried the bride off in a coach drawn by four black horses. As it reached the old medieval bridge at Potter Heigham, the coach burst into flames and plunged into the river. The witch had claimed her wish. People say the burning coach repeats its crash every 31 May.
