No pie, no parson.

Every Easter Monday Hallaton and Medbourne fight over small barrels ('bottles') across two streams. Wikipedia gives the story that two women were saved from a bull by a hare and gave land for a hare pie, ale and loaves. The BBC reported that in 2026 Hallaton won 2-0 after the hare pie was blessed and scrambled. CONFLICT: Wikipedia dates the 'No pie, no parson' story to a rector in 1790; the BBC places the parson in Victorian times.
