Every seven years, a life.

Peg o'Nell was a servant at Waddow Hall. Her mistress, angry with her, wished she would fall and break her neck as she went to the well on an icy morning, and she did. Her spirit haunts the Ribble, and every seven years Peg is said to claim a life. A headless stone figure by the spring is said to be her.
