If a girl waves you down on Blue Bell Hill at night, think carefully. Drivers say she's never there when they look back.

On 19 November 1965 a car carrying four young women crashed on the old road over Blue Bell Hill, the night before one of them was due to marry. Three of them died. Within a few years drivers began to report a young woman thumbing a lift on the hill. In 1971 and 1972, motorists said they had stopped for a girl who later vanished. Other drivers have claimed they hit a woman who ran out in front of them, only to find nobody there. Kent Online notes that some sightings may go back as far as the 1930s, before the crash.
