A house pulled down two hundred years ago, said to light up again every New Year's Eve.
Knighton Gorges was a great manor house near Newchurch, pulled down around 1821; only its gateposts remain. Wikipedia says the area is said to be haunted. Sir Tristram Dillington, MP for Newport, is said to have killed himself after gambling heavily following his wife's death. His valet hid the suicide by putting the body on his horse, Thunderbolt, and driving it into the lake. His ghost is said to ride each year on 7 July, the anniversary. On New Year's Eve, it is claimed, the lost house itself reappears with lights and music.
