Something lives in the clough.

Boggart Hole Clough is a deep wooded valley and park in Blackley. Local folklore says a boggart, a mischievous Lancashire spirit, lives in the clough, perhaps to explain the odd name. Boggarts were blamed for curdling milk and playing tricks, and some locals blamed mysterious disappearances in Blackley on them.
