Holy cloth on a hill.

During the Battle of Neville's Cross in 1346, monks led by Prior John Fossor held up St Cuthbert's corporax cloth on a mound called Maiden's Bower. The English won, and the captured Black Rood of Scotland was given to Cuthbert's shrine.
