Sunday morning, early. Listen for the hounds in the valley. They are still looking for their master.

Robert Hunt tells of Dando, a priest of the old priory church at St Germans, who loved hunting more than his vows. One Sunday, exhausted after the chase, he demanded drink and said they should go to hell for it if none could be found on earth. A stranger in the hunt handed him a flask, then took his game. Dando swore he would go to hell after it, and the stranger lifted him onto his horse and galloped off. Horse, riders and hounds leapt into the River Lynher and vanished in a blaze of fire. Early on Sunday mornings his dogs are still heard.
