East Court is a private manor house. Check before you go.
A king, two sisters, and a jealousy that ended in death.
Finchampstead, south of Wokingham, sits on the line of the Roman road from London to Silchester, called the Devil's Highway, and a Roman milestone survives at Banisters. Wikipedia records a story about East Court, one of the parish's three manor houses. Henry VIII, it says, wooed two sisters there, until one of them killed herself in a fit of jealousy. Wikipedia gives no source or date for the tale, and no other fetched page mentions it. The house's present use and access are NOT FOUND.
