Mistletoe from the Teme orchards, piled high in the cold. Each December, Tenbury sells it under the hammer.

Tenbury Wells, on the Teme where Worcestershire meets Shropshire and Herefordshire, has held winter auctions of holly and mistletoe for more than a century, giving it a name as the mistletoe capital. Growers bring bundles of white-berried mistletoe from the orchards of the Teme valley for sale before Christmas. Since 2005 the town has also held a Mistletoe Festival on the first Saturday in December, with mistletoe on display and a mistletoe blessing. The festival in 2026 is on 5 December. The town's Pump Rooms, opened in 1862 when Tenbury tried to become a spa, are a reminder of another chapter.
