The Easington Hare

The hare was a witch.

A hare that hounds could not catch was chased by a bloodhound, which caught and wounded its leg as it fled into a cottage. Inside, the huntsmen found no hare, only an old woman bandaging her wounded heel. The Northern Echo says the hound had been suckled at a woman's breast.
