The brawn's path.

A huge boar, the Brawn, terrorised the land around Brancepeth and Brandon. Hodge (Roger) of Ferry dug a pitfall at Cleves Cross, lured it in and killed it. Brancepeth is said to mean the brawn's path. His grave is said to be at Merrington church.
